No wonder it’s hard for conservatives to take some on the left seriously.
On climate change, I’ve grown accustomed to Hollyweird’s rhetorical emissions. But a recent “solution” proposed by Sheryl Crow (which I first saw on the Drudge Report) had me coughing into my coffee this morning.
Take it away Sheryl:
I have spent the better part of this tour trying to come up with easy ways for us all to become a part of the solution to global warming. One of my favorites is in the area of forest conservation which we heavily rely on for oxygen.
I propose a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting.
Now, I don’t want to rob any law-abiding American of his or her God-given rights, but I think we are an industrious enough people that we can make it work with only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where 2 to 3 could be required.
Environmental Defense, who sponsors Terra Rossa, may see it differently, but if that’s “the better part of the tour” I’d hate to hear the rest of it.
I’ll resist the other, easier jokes.
But I did remember one of her many catchy tunes, “My Favorite Mistake.” I’m sure Ms. Crow didn’t have us in mind when she wrote, “It’s your laughter that won’t let me go.”
Look, let’s all enjoy a laugh about this and not dwell in la-la land.

This suggestion should not be surprising to anybody. The New Age/one world socialist government/environmentalist/Green Peace/whatever you want to call it movement has been around for a long time now. Their goal is and has been to reduce our standard of living for the benefit of the 3rd world. These people also proposed an end to indoor plumbing about 2yrs ago. This global warming hysteria has been the greatest boon to their movement ever as proven by the fact that her comments are considered news worthy.

Its sad that you take the comments of a singer as fact.
I have never heard any scientist say this. At least acclaimed scientist.
Plus if you put all your faith on singers like her your in for many more disappointments.
Most people can distinguish from idiocy, maybe you should try a little harder.

Where did I say I took her comments as fact? Since you missed my point Jairsals, I will restate. There are legions of people of the aforementioned political persuasion who do take her seriously and have equally idiotic beliefs of their own. Before you just dismiss these people as idiots, cosider the fact that more and more of their thinking is becoming mainstream. How about this for idiocy. People believing an acclaimed scientist like Al Gore and his global warming nonsense, and further, he does his part to eliminate greenhouse gasses by buying carbon credits from a company he owns. Thanks to idiocy there is Kyoto, states suing the EPA to force them to regulate CO2, catalytic converts required on lawn mowers, the US buying oil from jihadists, flush twice toilets, 90 yr old ladies being searched at the airport, shall I go on? Sheryl needs to be taken seriously not because her idea is valid but because our idiotic government is always eager to put idiocy ahead of common sense. The day may come when toilet paper is regulated just as surely as blaming McDonalds for being fat, once viewed as idiocy, is now taken seriously by local governments everywhere.
Want some more idiocy? Check out Drudge Report about the breaking scandal in the carbon credits business.

Sorry, Drudge blew it on this one. He took Cheryl’s Crow’s comments way, way out of context.
If you read the original article in which she made her “toilet paper suggestion,” it’s obvious that the woman was JOKING.
Her joke may or may not be considered “funny,” but clearly she was being sarcastic - not serious.

Hank,
I am assuming you are making fun of John Kerry rather than making a serious suggestion that Ms. Crow was kidding.
