“Don’t be a girly man” Support Cap and Trade and PUMP up the economy
by Jim Coleman

Four days away from the presidential primary Governor Schwarzenegger will be visiting the capital of Ohio. But his agenda is not political. He will be in town to join 17,000 competitors for the Arnold Fitness Classic. Over 20 years ago Schwarzenegger was a pioneer in fitness. Now as Republican Governor he continues to be a leader in the improving the “fitness” of our environment and our economy.

Governor Schwarzenegger has been an active leader on Climate Change solutions. He was the first governor who signed legislation that created a statewide cap on carbon emissions and lowers California’s greenhouse gas emissions 25% by 2020. Schwarzenegger’s leadership on climate change has helped bring new investments into California’s economy as venture capitalists have poured $1.79 billion into the state’s green companies in 2007, about 45 percent of the country’s total green funds last year - helping to bring new jobs to California.

His commitment to fitness has inspired millions of American to get in better shape. Now his early leadership on Climate Change Solutions at the state level has inspired other governors - Pawlenty, Huntsman, Kaine, and O’Malley to take action on climate change. We can only hope that “Arnolds” inspiration finds its way to the United State Senate and Lieberman Warner Climate Security Act receives a PUMPED up yes vote.

To limit pollution and reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources we should:

Implement a market-based ‘Cap and Trade’ solution
Increase taxes and government subsidies
Buy tickets to see Leo’s latest flop
Do nothing and hope it will get better
Undecided, but we do need to find a solution
