New value in rain forests?

EXTRACTING VALUE out of the preservation of a rain forest is a challenge. Loggers see greater value in destroying it to sell the timber and use the land to grow crops and raise cattle. Some investors are trying to realize the future value of preserving it, anticipating that at some point nations will create a cross-border carbon-trading scheme to combat global warming.
