I’m from South Carolina and two newspapers there, the (Charleston) Post and Courier and The State, wrote Thursday about the threats posed by climate change to the Lowcountry and the entire coast. They’re worth a read.

Scientists, business leaders and state officials attending a Charleston symposium examined a range of consequences that would result from rising sea levels and more frequent and powerful coastal storms caused by climate change - higher insurance rates, significant beach erosion, a declining seafood industry, loss of tourism dollars.

News like that tells me I’m right to want to fight climate change. The conservative in me says we can do it the right way - through the power of markets, not taxes and subsidies.

To limit pollution and reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources we should:

Implement a market-based ‘Cap and Trade’ solution
Increase taxes and government subsidies
Buy tickets to see Leo’s latest flop
Do nothing and hope it will get better
Undecided, but we do need to find a solution
