Terra Rossa | Where Conservatives Consider a New Energy Future

In Green They Trust

Many liberals celebrate the fact that they are “secular,”¯ mocking the beliefs of religious conservatives. But there is a fundamentalist religion of the left today, and that religion is radical environmentalism. There is no room for debate, or dissent, when it comes to environmental policy - every aspect of the environment is bad, and getting worse, and if we don’t make drastic changes right now, the Earth is headed for catastrophe. If you question these beliefs, you’re a “denier.”¯ If you’re a conservative Republican, you either don’t care about the environment, or actually want to destroy it. If you drive an SUV. . .well. . .may God have mercy on your soul (not that we’re saying there’s a God, of course).

As a conservative who cares deeply about the environment, I find these views to be somewhat offensive, and not a little disturbing. The fact of the matter is that there are environmental problems in the United States, but almost all of them are getting better. There are a lot of effective environmental solutions driven by the free-market economy, and we hope to start a dialogue about them here at Terra Rossa. By using American innovation and the power of a free economy, we can continue our economic prosperity and improve the environment. And we won’t have to sell our cars, sit in the dark, or learn a single verse of “Kum-Bah-Yah” to do it.

To limit pollution and reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources we should:

Implement a market-based ‘Cap and Trade’ solution
Increase taxes and government subsidies
Buy tickets to see Leo’s latest flop
Do nothing and hope it will get better
Undecided, but we do need to find a solution
