I don’t think it goes far enough. Contrary to what Al Hubbard promised, it didn’t knock my socks off. We’ve been hearing about biofuels and alternatives for a long time, how about an executive order in the form of a fleet purchase to spur production of hybrids?
A lot goes into the SOTU, but if W thought energy was his cornerstone in this one, he only receives my polite applause.

reply is simply THERE IS NO GLOBAL WARMING. Weather is simply made up of weather patterns. I am really tired of hearing about No Global Warming. It is being used explicitly for more control of the people in this country.

I have just come from a fishing trip to the NW Angle in minn. To see the inestimable amount of wood that is just laying there rotting makes me sich. One ton of that material contains the heat equivalent of three barrels of oil. How much better it would be to use it for heating than to simply be fodder for a forest fire.
As for wood fires harming the environment, consider this–burning well cured dry wood in a stove causes much less damage to the environment than allowing it to be consumed in a conflagration that takes with it living trees (oxygen producing factories).

It is an anti-capitalist movement disguised otherwise. It’s pretty sad now that anybody who challenges man-made global warming is equated to holocaust deniers and demonized by the media.
I was watching the history channel yesterday morning, ‘Last Days on Earth’, discussing all of the possible scenarios that could completely annihilate existence of mankind here on Earth. Nuclear and biological warfare, epidemics of new diseases that could spread worldwide within days or hours.
The #1 threat? ‘Climate change’, or the new keyword for global warming. Perhaps the #1 threat is our own stupidity.

GE, DuPont, Alcoa, PG&E, FPL and 5 other Corporate leaders have joined 4 environmental non-profits to call for national leadership and legislation for mandatory carbon emissions control. Google USCAP + GE
CEO’s work for shareholders and these companies have determined that future earnings depend on energy conservation, efficiency, and use of renewables. The risks associated with climate change are supported by the science community except for 5 people formerly paid by Exxon to keep the “debate” going.
Insurance companies recognize the risk an their policies and premium structure is rapidly adjusting to this. They will be adjusting rates based on emissions in the near future.

Actually BP and Shell are the biggest supporters of global warming activism. It gives them an edge over the recalcitrant Exxon.
I’m so sick of the canard that anyone who commits heresy against the holy belief in human made global warming with a little skepticism is a shill for the oil co.s. Not only is it pitifully untrue it seems to be the only argument the global warming hysterics have.
