Due to the soaring rise in gas prices safety directors and city finance directors or going back to city council to find more funds to pay for gasoline. Large cities are $3-$5 million over their projected budgets. Police forces are returning to their roots to combat the outrageous rise in the price of a gallon of gasoline oil. More and more units are going to bike patrol and even foot patrol in both metropolitan areas and suburban neighborhoods. Not only are they saving fuel and dollars but they are also re-connecting with neighborhood businesses and its citizens. Bikes and even Segways can patrol in areas that cars can’t reach. This was originally a short term remedy to a financial crisis but has turned into a new safety measure for our citizens.

The only crime that these cops can’t solve is why congress isn’t doing anything to solve our oil addiction.

To limit pollution and reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources we should:

Implement a market-based ‘Cap and Trade’ solution
Increase taxes and government subsidies
Buy tickets to see Leo’s latest flop
Do nothing and hope it will get better
Undecided, but we do need to find a solution
